“I have been asked about my opinion of TAG Business Strategies and their overall package for digital marketing that has been deployed in our five Florida clubs and currently in the process of adding the Alexandria Va. club as well. Since so many operators have asked me about my experience with TAG since the owner’s conference, I thought it would be much easier to put together a quick status report with information about what our experience with TAG has been to date.
Our account manager at TAG has been both responsive and capable and has handled everything from all posts on Facebook and social media, to all updating of class schedules and other pertinent information on the goldsgym.com site. Whenever we’ve asked for new creative pieces to support promotions and specials, they have been provided promptly and without additional charge and actively promoted on our websites and social media.
Search Engine Marketing
One of the most impressive things TAG has done for us, was to construct new high end websites for each of our locations, and was able to move them up quickly in Google and others under search terms like “what is the best gym in Orlando”, “women’s gym in Clermont”, “health club in Orlando” and dozens of other ranks on Google page 1. As a result our Orlando club is getting about 1200 new visitors to its website every month, and seven-day sign-ups have increased 30 to 40% when combined with the leads from Goldsgym.com

The leads from the new TAG websites have consistently closed with about double the effectiveness (closing percentage) of the standard Gold’s gym.com leads.
There also has seemed to be a substantial increase in walk-in traffic and phone in sales with more in June-July-August then Jan-Feb-March this year which is highly unusual. This occurred as TAG programs took a foothold, but since our in club tracking has always been a challenge I cannot determine how much is from the increase in web traffic.
The Mobile websites TAG has created and launched for us are high quality and functional. We also have had 587 “click to map” clicks which are people looking for the club on a map that could indicate walk-in new members.
Social Media/Review Marketing
TAG created custom looks and pages for all Social Media Sites like Facebook, Twitter and Yelp. TAG handles every aspect of the upkeep of those like posting and responding to members.
TAG has doubled our Facebook followers in 5 months (page is 4 years old) and helped us to take clubs which had several bad reviews to only good ones. TAG has also increased our Facebook reach from 3200 to 8700 in the same time period.
TAG has also launched programs in club to drive positive reviews and as a result great Reviews on Google have tripled, Yelp reviews have doubled and Facebook Reviews from zero to 9.
TAG is also promoting our Facebook to non-members outside the community and we have had inquires for membership from Facebook as a result.
Consulting/Evaluation of other Marketing Programs
Bill has been available to answer questions and help us evaluate any new marketing programs that have been presented. For example TAG’s reputation program was able to get Yelp to advertise for our Gyms free when we had been called by Yelp asking for $600 per month for advertising.
TAG has offered to evaluate our direct mail and print campaigns as well to help save marketing dollars.

While we thought the contest was great and generated a lot of buzz in the club – when it was over, we figured that was it – over til the next campaign. So those are my thoughts on the Hawaii promo – it was great and a huge “buzz builder” – but now on to more serious stuff.
Our Webster club, as you know, has been open for 8 years. We run TV, radio, local newspaper and direct mail at various times throughout the year. I have what I would consider a decent budget – but reality is probably the lower end of middle of the road. When we signed on with you, leads had been drying up, and a search of ‘gyms in Webster” (and it is a small community) found me buried – well in the pages 6 & 7. I just couldn’t fathom how my club, with nearly 3,000 members, an active Facebook community, and a decent ad budget, could rank below a brand new CrossFit box with 200 members – even below The Little Gym for toddlers – it all made no sense to me.
We also opened a new club in the Village of Fairport. After extensive advertising during our presale, we still showed up NOWHERE in a google search of ‘gyms in Fairport’.
After just four short months with your organization, we can now be found on page one in the Webster search, and in Fairport, we are happy to occupy the top spot – Number One!!! This is going against a YMCA that is 7 years old, has over 20,000 members and is doing a 70,000 – $7 million addition.
